Ronald J. Lewis

Ronald J. Lewis, 79, of East Providence, passed away on Saturday, July 10, 2021 surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Beverly (Soares) Lewis.

Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Joseph Monteiro and Angelina Garcia Lewis.

Ron was a professional musician and the original lead singer for the band “Reminisce” for over 25 years.  He was a great cook and loved being around his family and friends.  His grandchildren were his proud and joy. He adored his two dogs Princess and Patches.  He will be missed by his family and all who knew him and his amazing voice.

Besides his loving wife, he leaves three daughters, Michelle Lewis Platt and her husband Standring of Orange Beach, AL, Debra Ann Lewis of East Matunuck, Joanna Lewis Hayden and her husband Tyler of Providence, step daughter, Cheri Almeida and her wife Laura of North Kingstown, step son, J.R. Almeida and his wife Sheri of Burrillville, six grandchildren, Julia Platt, P.J. Platt, John Ryan Tomasso, Stella Mia Tomasso, Samantha Rose Tomasso, Jesse Levi Hayden, one great grandchild, Sterling Platt, two brothers, Richard Lewis of Ohio, Joseph Monteiro of Cranston.  He was the brother of the late, Albert Lewis and Eugene Monteiro.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, July 13, 2021 from 5-7 PM in the PERRY-McSTAY FUNERAL HOME, 2555 Pawtucket Avenue, East Providence. Burial will be private.

Beverly and family; such a sad time for all of you. I remember hearing Ron sing at Heritage days. He had such a beautiful voice. RIP Ron.

Met Ron and Beverly 10 years ago. Through the love of singing and music we became friends and enjoyed each other’s company. He had a great voice and made a lot of people smile. He will be missed! Frank Howard

Ron was a good friend since circa 1960..We worked together in different phases of the music biz from time to time through the years..but was always a true friend...condolences to his family....he will be missed...

As the original drummer for Reminisce I'll always remember Ron as my mentor, my good buddy my acting DAD in the early years of playing our great music together. One of the greatest voices of all time. Rest In Peace! I will miss you always. And I will listen to our music forever.

Beverly and entire family Ronnie and I were friends since the 50’s. We started singing together as teenagers and into our 70’s. We had quite a journey and many fond memories which will never be forgotten. My friend will always be remembered.
