Rev. Paul F. Reynolds

Rev. Paul F. Reynolds, 78, Pastor Emeritus of Saint Mary Church, West Warwick, died Monday, October 30, 2017.

Born in Providence, Rhode Island, he was the son of the late Francis A. and Dorothy C. (Cavanaugh) Reynolds. He attended South Woodlawn and Saint Mary Schools, as well as Saint Raphael Academy, all in Pawtucket.

In preparation for the priesthood, he studied at Our Lady of Providence Seminary in Warwick Neck and Saint Mary’s Seminary in Baltimore, Maryland. He was ordained a priest on June 5, 1965 at the Cathedral of SS. Peter and Paul in Providence by Bishop Russell J. McVinney.

Father Reynolds served as assistant pastor in the following parishes: Blessed Sacrament, Providence (1965-69); Saint Lawrence, North Providence (1969-1982) and Saint Martha, East Providence (1982-1992).

On January 23, 1992 he was appointed pastor of Saint Mary Church, West Warwick, and served there until November 19, 2007, when he retired as Pastor Emeritus. During his retirement, Father resided at Saint Martha Rectory in East Providence.  In his final years, Father lived at St. Jeanne Jugan Residence in Pawtucket.  Father was also Chaplain of Mary Doran Council, Knights of Columbus and Chaplin for Father Wallace Assembly.  In 2007 he received the Bishop Gelineau Award for Chaplin of the Year for the Knights of Columbus.

He leaves one sister, Lois Allard of Pawtucket, three nieces, Mary E. Allard, Therese Allard and Suzanne DeAmaral and three nephews, Gerard Allard, Peter J. Reynolds and Paul J. Reynolds.  He was the brother of the late Peter E. Reynolds.

A Prayer Service will be held on Friday, November 3, 2017 at 5:00 PM in St. Martha Church, 2595 Pawtucket Avenue, East Providence followed by visitation until 7:00 PM. A concelebrated Mass of Christian Burial will be offered for the repose of his soul on Saturday, November 4, 2017 at 10:00 AM in Saint Martha Church. Burial will follow in Mt. St. Mary Cemetery, Pawtucket. Contributions in Fathers memory to St. Martha Church Memorial Fund would be appreciated.
