Raymond Nunes Perry, 97, passed away on Sunday, July 4, 2021 at Kent Regency Center. Raymond was a resident of Warwick, RI. He was the husband of Rose (Medeiros) Perry to whom he was married 69 years. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Antonio and Magdalena (Camillo) Nunes.
Raymond proudly served in the Navy and was a veteran of WWII, decorated with the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal, World War II Victory Medal, and the European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal. Raymond was a truck driver for St. Johnsbury Trucking Company and a member of the local Teamsters Union. He spent his leisure time playing guitar, woodcarving, leather tooling, and drawing/painting.
Besides his wife, Raymond leaves five nephews: Richard Barchi, John Medeiros, Raymond Jordan, Peter Barchi, Gary Jordan, and one niece: Susan Dolman. Raymond was the brother of the late Madelyn Emmett.
Raymond’s burial with military honors will be held on Wednesday, July 14, 2021, at 11:00 AM in the Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, 301 South County Trail, Exeter, RI. Family and friends are asked to gather at the entrance of the cemetery at the Visitor’s Center by 10:45 AM.
