Mildred A. Brescia, 97, formerly of Ipswich Street passed away on Monday July 7, 2014 at Waterview Villa. She was the wife of the late Steve Brescia.Born in Providence she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Sadie (George) Hawksley. Mrs. Brescia was a waitress at the former Eileen Darlings Restaurant for 15 years before she retired in 1979. Previously she also worked at the Ledgemont Country Club and The Top Hill Restaurant. She enjoyed cooking Sunday dinners for her family and was a faithful communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church for many years. She leaves three daughters Beverly A. Putney and her husband Bob of Seekonk, Judith L. Phillips of Taunton and Jane M. Trainor and her husband Ray of Narragansett, one son Paul W. Brescia and his wife Linda of Rehoboth, two sisters, Alice Poole of Rehoboth and Olive Tameo and her husband John of Seekonk, her sister in law, Virginia Hawksley of Seekonk, seven grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.She was the mother of the late Stephen W. Brescia, great grandmother of the late Mitchell E. Putney and sister of the late Pearl J. Sorafine, Walter and Joseph Hawksley. Her funeral will be held on Thursday at 9 AM from the PERRY-MCSTAY FUNERAL HOME 2555 Pawtucket Avenue East Providence with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Taunton Avenue Seekonk. Burial will be in Mt. St. Mary’s Cemetery. Calling hours Wednesday 4-7. In lieu of flowers contributions to Beacon Hospice will be appreciated.
