Maria V. Goncalves

Maria V. Goncalves, 79, of East Providence passed away on Wednesday, March 24, 2021 at the Philip Hulitar Hospice Center. She was the wife of the late Antonio R. Goncalves.

Born in Rabo de Peixe, Sao Miguel, Azores she was a daughter of the late Sebastiao and Maria dos Anjos Vieira.  Mrs. Goncalves worked for the Kenney Manufacturing Company before she retired.  She was a communicant of Our Lady of the Rosary Church.

She leaves three children, Ana P. Post of East Providence, Jose M. Goncalves of East Providence and James A. Gonsalves and his wife Terry of Warwick, four grandchildren, Jose M. Goncalves, Jr., Theresa Goncalves, Jesse Goncalves and James A. Gonsalves, Jr., one great grandchild, Fitz Goncalves and two brothers, Sebastiao Vieira and Antonio Vieira both of East Providence. She was the sister of the late Theresa Silva.

Her funeral and visitation will be held on Saturday, March 27, 2021 from 9-10 AM in Our Lady of the Rosary Church, 21 Traverse Street, Providence with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 10:00 AM. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.

Joe, Jimmy, Ana, Terry, Tee, Jesse, Im so very sorry for the beloved lois of your mother/ grandmother, mother in law. She was so very good to me in my days I could barely walk. I miss taking her to the doctor's talking her out to eat, these are fond memories I'll keep with me forever. Ive lost most of my loved ones, I do know the feeling. She was suffering, there is no more. May God wrap his arms around her, to know her was to love her. I am so sorry, I'll see you later, it's not goodbye. Always, Tonya Cabral.

My condolences to the Goncalves’s family . Mrs Goncalves was a wonderful woman. Her husband Antonio was just as sweet. I have known them both for many years. l am so sorry for your loss . Maybe be dancing together in heaven.
