Lolita H. Hemmings, 85, of New Port Richey, FL, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, December 22, 2020, at the Alice Hyde Medical Center, in Malone, NY.
Born in Amsterdam, NY, June 22, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Kenneth and Ruth Hildreth Hurley. Lolita was a clerk for Sears at the catalog store in Seekonk, MA for several years and later a sales clerk for E.L. Freeman Stationary in Pawtucket, RI until her retirement many years ago. She enjoyed reading, especially romance and mystery, and spending time at her home in Florida. Always a dog lover, Lolita had many wonderful companions over the years the last being her beloved Duncan. On March 15, 1955, she was united in marriage to Walter H. Hemmings in North Providence, RI. He predeceased her on September 19, 2019.
She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Deborah and P. Henry Cournoyer of Malone, NY, and Beverly and Anthony Procopio of Seekonk, MA, two grandchildren, Jared Procopio and his wife, Lisa of Uxbridge, MA, and Ashley Procopio of Los Angeles, CA, two great grandchildren, Jackson and Lincoln Procopio, her sister, Julia Crowley of Lithia, FL, sister-in-law, Charlene Hurley of New Port Richey, FL, brothers-in-law Ronald Hemmings and his partner Alan Berkey of Dunedin FL and Les Hemmings of Pawtucket, RI, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by one brother, Richard L. Hurley.
A committal service will be will be held on Saturday, May 1, 2021 at 9:30 A.M. in the Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, 301 S. County Trail, Exeter, RI. Relatives and friends planning to attend, are asked to gather at the Administration Bldg. by the entrance of the Veterans Cemetery no later than 9:15 A.M.
