Leonard G. Iannacone, 78, died on January 11, 2020 after a long illness. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Luigi and Olga (Ferrieri) Iannacone. Leonard was an East Providence resident all his life.
Active in the sports of basketball and golf, he was also a prolific artist, creating drawings and paintings of many historical sites in this city and across Rhode Island. He made a living as a professional draftsman and interior designer, learning his craft at RISD and then produced numerous original interior designs for businesses and churches. A friend to many of us, Lenny also had a generous and soft heart for those in need. He was a veteran of the US Army. He enjoyed his sports cars, roasted chestnuts, steamers, backyard clam boils, national parks and a good laugh. Lenny vacationed in Florida, Las Vegas and Mexico. We will miss our artistic, intelligent and energetic friend.
A Mass of Christian Burial, which relatives and friends are invited to attend, will be celebrated on Wednesday, January 22, 2020 at 10:00 AM in Our Lady of Loreto Church, Waterman Avenue, East Providence. Burial, with Military Honors, will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
