Judith Irene McElwain

Judith Irene McElwain went home to be with Jesus on January 21, 2021. She was in the Intensive Care Unit at Miriam hospital since January 8, 2021.  She was born July 23, 1941 in East Providence, Rhode Island and lived there her entire life.   She was the wife of Rev. Timmie M. McElwain former Pastor of Swansea Word of God Church. She graduated from East Providence High School in 1958.  Judith and Tim celebrated 60 years of marriage this past September 10, 2020.  Judith’s parents Henry and Irene Silva preceded her in death.

One of the things she really loved to do was arts and crafts. She never was really able to pursue her love of art.  I am sure they will give her something to do along those lines in heaven.  Judiths family was the most important thing to her. She was a loving mother and adoring Nana and her presence will be greatly missed.

She leaves behind her daughter Deneen Marie Stebenne and her son Dr. Dean Paul McElwain.  Her grandchildren Jamie Paul Stebenne and wife Rebecca, Lindsey Irene (Stebenne) McCarty and husband Patrick, Benjamin McElwain and her step grandchild Brooklyn Sullo.  In addition her Son-in Law David Stebenne and her daughter in law Laurie McElwain.

A private service for the family will be held at the Perry McStay Funeral Home 2555 Pawtucket Avenue, East Providence, RI 02914.  The service will be officiated by Rev. Douglas Crandall Pastor of Zion Gospel Temple, East Providence RI.  Judith will be laid to rest at Gates of Heaven Cemetery.

Judith and Tim were past members of Apponaug Pentecostal Church and Zion Gospel Temple. Any donations in her name may be given to given to either one of these churches.

I will fondly remember Judy and our time spent together at Laurie and Dean's house for holidays and special occasions. She was a lovely person.

Judy and I were WW friends. After the official meeting some of us went to the unofficial meeting held at the DD in Walmart...where Tim and some other spouses would join us. Sorry to read of her passing. May her memory be a blessing.
