Joseph Oliver

Joseph Oliver, 83, of Seekonk passed away on Tuesday, June 8, 2021, at Crestwood Nursing and Rehabilitation.  He was the loving husband of Mary (Hughes) Oliver to whom he was married 57 yrs.

Born in East Providence, he was the son of the late Tobias and Constance (Vincent) Oliver.

Mr. Oliver was an overhead linesman and worked for Narragansett Electric for 38 years until he retired.  He was a faithful communicant of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, served as a Eucharistic Minister and, was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, Seekonk Council, #5108.  He enjoyed the outdoors and loved going for long walks every day.

Besides his wife, he leaves two sons, Stephen Oliver and his wife Madeline of Seekonk, Todd Oliver of Rumford, two grandchildren, Gabrielle Oliver and John Oliver and, one sister, Eileen Stearns of Providence.  He was the brother of the late Ernest Oliver, Dorothy Salgueiro, Mary Pointe and, Lillian McGloin.

His funeral will be held on Monday, June 14, 2021, at 9:00 AM from the PERRY-McSTAY FUNERAL HOME, 2555 Pawtucket Avenue, East Providence with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Taunton Avenue, Seekonk. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 2-5 PM.
