Doris Kenney

Doris (Collette) Kenney, formerly of Greenwich Avenue, passed away on Sunday, December 4, 2016 at the Bethany Home.  She was the wife of the late Frank J. Kenney.  Born in Central Falls, she was a daughter of the late Medard F. and Alma (Allard) Collette.    After graduating from Central Falls High School, she entered Homeopathic Hospital’s Nursing School, now the Roger Williams Medical Center, graduating in 1945. Working one year for the then Providence Visiting Nurses,  she worked several years at the Memorial Hospital in Pawtucket, the Miriam Hospital and Hattie Ide Chaffee Nursing Home.  She retired in 1978 after working 8 years for the Rhode Island Hospital as Home Care Nurse Respiratory Therapist.   She was a member of the Roger Williams Nurses Alumni Association and the Hattie Ide Chaffee Alumnae Group.  She was a founding member of St. Martha’s Church and also a member of the Rosary & Altar Society and the St. Vincent dePaul Society.  She leaves one daughter, Eileen Labbe of East Providence, one son, Andrew Kenney of Arizona, three grandchildren, Jason Labbe of New Hampshire, David Labbe of Virginia and Kori Fine of Arizona and eight great grandchildren.  She was the sister of the late A. Leon Collette and J. Medard Collette. Her funeral and visitation will be held on Friday at 9:30 AM in the PERRY-McSTAY FUNERAL HOME, 2555 Pawtucket Avenue, East Providence with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM in St. Martha’s Church, Pawtucket Avenue.  Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Pawtucket. In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to the St. Vincent dePaul Society of St. Martha’s Church, 2595 Pawtucket Avenue, East Providence, RI 02914 or the Bethany Home of Rhode Island, 111 South Angell Street, Providence, RI 02906.
