Donald F. McGurn ,72, died at home on Monday March 21, 2016 after a brave and gracious battle with cancer. He was the husband of Carol (Nunes) McGurn. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Everett (Skip) McGurn and the late Lillian (Cordeau) McGurn. Until retirement he was an examiner for the National Credit Union Administration. He also served in Vietnam with Rhode Island National Guard 107th Signal Company, a camaraderie that continues through reunions with mementos of the bond forged so long ago. Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons, Bryan McGurn of North Dighton, and Patrick McGurn of Seekonk, two grandchildren, Matthew McGurn and Cassidy McGurn, his brother, James McGurn of East Providence, and his two sisters, Patricia Emma of North Providence and Judith Dodd of Riverside. He was beloved by family and friends, a very good human being. His funeral will be held on Tuesday at 9:00 AM from the PERRY-MCSTAY FUNERAL HOME, 2555 Pawtucket Avenue, East Providence with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Taunton Ave, Seekonk. Burial to follow with Military Honors in Swan Point Cemetery, Providence. Calling hours Monday 5-8.
