Dennis Michael Hurley, 67 of Riverside RI passed away peacefully in his sleep on April 3rd 2019. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late William Hurley and Elizabeth (Ryan) Hurley, he was a lifelong resident of Riverside.
Dennis was a Marine who served active duty combat in Vietnam, he was awarded the National Defense service metal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign medal and Rifle Marksman Badge. After serving his country, he went on to become a licensed electrician and worked at RI Hospital and also for the US Post Office in Newport and Taunton.
He was known for his quick wit, and sense of humor, he always left you laughing. He enjoyed fishing, riding his bike, and gave generously to anyone he met that was in need.
He will join his parents, sister Betty Anne (Hurley) England and brother Terrance Hurley in heaven. He is survived by his brother William Hurley and Sister Rosemary Giacomini. His nephews and nieces who adored him, Julie Szala, John England, William Hurley, Erin Collins, Colleen Bedford, Elizabeth Giacomini, Tara Hurley, and John Giacomini. His great nieces, Elizabeth Girardi, Sophie Lytle, Carolyn & Briana Bedford, Sidney & Maxine Silva Hurley, and great nephews Patrick Collins, Timothy Szala, and Ryan Giacomini. He touched many lives and will be missed.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, April 8, 2019 at 10:00 AM in St. Brendan Church, 60 Turner Avenue, Riverside. Burial with Military Honors will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Providence. Calling hours are respectfully omitted. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Disabled American Veterans
