David Joseph Lanni

David Joseph Lanni, 99, of Rumford, passed away on Sunday, April 18, 2021, at Rhode Island Hospital.

He was the husband of Olive C. (DeRobbio) Lanni to whom he was married for 73 years.

Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Lawrence M. and Maria (Viola) Lanni.

Mr. Lanni was the owner and operator of the Rumford Barber Salon for over 65 years before retiring. He was an Army Veteran of WWII. He was a member of the Lyons Club, Sons of Italy, and the Knights of Columbus. He was an avid golfer who was also a member of the Wannamoisett Country Club. His proudest achievement was being part of the Choir at Saint Margaret’s Church.

Besides his wife, he leaves one daughter, Karen Brill and her husband Scott of Smithfield, one son, David J. Lanni, Jr. and his wife Donna formerly of Hopkinton, five grandchildren, Kelli Quigley, Christopher Connaughton, Jason Lanni, Nichole Kaspersen, and Michael Lanni, twelve great-grandchildren, two sister-in laws, Angela Barletta and Barbara DeRobbio and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Angelo, Nicholas, William and Lawrence Lanni, Mary Pesce, Patricia Anzelone, and Lena Famigletti.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, April 22, 2021, at 10:00 AM in Saint Margaret’s Church, 1098 Pawtucket Avenue, Rumford. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Saint Margaret’s School, 1098 Pawtucket Avenue, East Providence, RI 02916.

We are so sorry to hear the loss of Dave, they have been our neighbors since 1972, we have watched their family grow with grandchildren and great grandchildren as well as our own. He will be missed, RIP Dave
