Brendin Gregory Lyn McKinney

In Loving Memory of Brendin Gregory Lyn McKinney

Brendin “Box” McKinney

Sunrise: September 11, 1993

Sunset: April 21, 2021

Providence, RI

Box loved spending time with his family, especially his nieces and nephews; he can be called the Funcle (fun+uncle). He took great joy in being a new father and enjoyed his time with his baby girl. He is known for his 2-step dance, or as he would say, he was “jamming” and self-proclaimed momma’s boy. He was never too old to cuddle with his mom and loved every snuggle. Brendin was a passionate young man whether it was about family and many friends, his religion, his favorite foods, what to wear or his entertainment. His favorite tv show was 600lb Life and he could never go wrong ordering shrimp and grits when it was time to dine. Brendin “Abdul Shabazz” practiced Islam and was honoring Ramadan during his final sunset.

He leaves to mourn his parents, William & Melissa McKinney, his godparents, Alexis Crowell and John Clear, ‘the brothers’ Lawrence & Robert Crowell, William Jr. & Chance McKinney, his beautiful 10-month-old daughter, Reign McKinney, and his fur-baby Dallas. He is survived by a host of family and friends.

Brendin was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Samuel Odel Abney (1979) and Betty Jean Crowell (1997), his paternal grandparents, Brenda Victoria Potter McKinney Patton (1982) William Lawrence McKinney (1984), Dorothy Potter (2010) and his Nana Denise Konadu (2012).

The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to all those who have supported us during this difficult time of loss.  His funeral services will be private.
