August “Gus” M. Lial 66, of Providence went home to be with his Lord on Sunday May 22, 2016. Gus grew up in East Providence, a son of the late Victor F. Lial Jr. and Mary J. (Cabral) Lial where he graduated from East Providence Senior High School in June 1967 and RI Junior College in June 1969. He was a machinist before becoming disabled. Gus loved children, playing drums and animals. He was a collector of hats and clocks. He was brother to Maryann Leonardo, Carol A. Antonio, and Victor F Lial, III all of East Providence. Gus also leaves eight nieces and nephews, eight great nieces and nephews, and two great, great nieces. Sincere thanks to the VA doctors, nurses, social workers, and the dialysis team who ministered to Gus throughout the years. His funeral will begin on Friday at 10 AM with a service to follow at 11 AM in the PERRY-McSTAY FUNERAL HOME 2555 Pawtucket Avenue, East Providence. Burial with Military Honors will follow in RI Veterans Cemetery, Exeter. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Kidney Dialysis Center of East Providence, 318 Waterman Avenue, East Providence, RI 02914.
