Antonio Andrade

Antonio Andrade, 94, of Riverside passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 15, 2020 at the Philip Hulitar Hospice Center. He was the husband of Phoebe (Mello) Andrade to whom he was married 68 years.

Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Antone and Rose (Leitao) Andrade.  Mr. Andrade was a salesman for the former Lewis-Williams Furniture Store in East Providence for many years. After retiring from the furniture store he worked as an attendant at Silver Spring Golf Course.  He was an Army-Air Force veteran of World War II and a member of the American Legion Post # 10, Riverside.  Mr. Andrade was a communicant of St. Francis Xavier Church for many years and was very active with the Knights of Columbus. He was a member of the East Providence Council #1528, Knights of Columbus for 63 years and also served as a Grand Knight from 1987-1988 and was a past Treasurer of the Council for many years.   He was a past President of the Past Grand Knights Association and a 4th Degree Member of Pope Pius X Assembly, #1060.  He was a member of the former Surf Raiders Fishing Club and an avid New England Patriots fan. He will always be remembered as a loving husband and father who was loved by all.

Besides his wife he leaves one son, Ronald J. Andrade of Riverside, two grandchildren, David Andrade and Lisa Huguenin and her husband Max, four great grandchildren, Cole, Paige, Piper and Nolan and his daughter in law Joann Andrade. He was the father of the late Donald J. Andrade and brother of the late Rose Wathey and Arthur Andrade.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, July 20, 2020 at 11:00 AM in St. Francis Xavier Church, 79 North Carpenter Street, East Providence. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.  Calling hours will be held on Monday morning from 9-11 in St. Francis Xavier Church. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the East Providence Council #1528, Knights of Columbus, 3200 Pawtucket Avenue, East Providence, RI 02915 would be appreciated.

Mrs. Andrade, Ron and all the other Andrade family, My deepest sympathies for Tony’s passing. Whenever I saw him he would give me a big hug and kiss on cheek. He knew me since I was a little kid. My Mom and Dad brought most of their furniture from him and so did I. He will will be missed. RIP
