Yusef L. A’Vant, 42 of Pawtucket Avenue died on Wednesday, August 13, 2014 at Rhode Island Hospital.Born in Providence, he was a son of Claudia J. A’Vant of East Providence and George Woods of New York. Yusef was the owner & operator of Krazy Kuts Barber Shop for the last ten years. He was a devoted father and enjoyed spending time with his family. He attended the Arthur Angelo School of Hair Design and CCRI. He was a member of the John Hope Basket Ball League, Midnight Basket Ball League, Providence 4-H Club and performed with the B-Boys Break Dance group. He was an avid sports fan and also coached youth athletic teams. He was a role model for many youth and contributed complimentary hair cuts and styling for those in need. He was known, loved by all in the community and will be truly missed.Besides his parents he leaves one son, Yusef A’Vant of Cranston, one sister, Mayardah A’Vant of Maryland, two brothers, Eric A’Vant of Providence and Raphael A’Vant of East Providence and his maternal grandmother, Gertrude M. Lopes A’Vant. He was the grandson of the late Juanito A’Vant. He was the nephew of Linda A’Vant-Deishinni and husband Munir Mohammed, Deborah A’Vant, Joseph A’Vant, Mary A’Vant-Blinkhorn and husband Richard Blinkhorn, Detective Lieutenant John A’Vant and wife Elizabeth Rose A’Vant, Theresa A’Vant-Antonio and husband David Antonio, Anthony A’Vant, Detective Angelo A’Vant and wife Kamilah A’Vant, Dominic A’Vant and wife Daniela A’Vant, Catherine A’Vant-Fowler, Serena White and husband Bernard White and the late Candy A’Vant and Trudy DaCruz. He was the uncle to Nailah and Nadira A’Vant-Cureton and leaves many aunts, uncles and cousins.His funeral will be held on Tuesday at 8:45 AM from the PERRY-McSTAY FUNERAL HOME, 2555 Pawtucket Avenue, East Providence with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in St. Martha’s Church, Pawtucket Avenue.
