Walter R. Phillips, Jr.
Walter R. Phillips, Jr. 82, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, September 3, 2020. He was the husband of the late Patricia J. (Scullin) Phillips.
Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Walter R., Sr. and Marie “Dora” (LePage) Phillips. Mr. Phillips was a Senior Operator for the Narragansett Bay Commission before he retired. He had also worked as a Machinist/Millwright and a finish carpenter. He was the owner and operator of the former W & P Construction Company. Mr. Phillips was a Navy veteran. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed taking care of his house and his yard. Above all else, he will always be remembered as a loving father and grandfather.
He leaves three children, Tammy Phillips-Ramos of Attleboro, Laurie Mullen and her husband Daniel of Rehoboth and Todd Phillips and his wife Cindy of Cranston, four grandchildren, Kelly Ramos, Hannah Mullen, Daniel Mullen, Jr. and Camryn Phillips and one great grandson, Dustin Leger. He was the father of the late Mark Phillips, grandfather of the late Paul Mark Ramos, father in law of the late Paul J. Ramos and brother of the late Henry Phillips.
His funeral will be private. Due to Covid 19 restrictions, there will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959 would be appreciated.
