Walter H. Hemmings, 88, passed away on Thursday, September 19, 2019 in New Port Richey, Florida. He was the husband of Lolita (Hurley) Hemmings to whom he was married for 64 years. Born in Motherwell, Scotland, he was a son of the late Walter and Jeanie (Hendrie) Hemmings. Mr. Hemmings was an Army Veteran of the Korean War. He was the owner and operator of East Side Plumbing and Heating for over 20 years. He was also a proud member of the Plumber’s & Pipefitters Local Union #51 for 63 years. He enjoyed playing golf and working in the yard. He also loved dogs and had many wonderful companions over the years. Besides his wife he leaves two daughters, Deborah Cournoyer and her husband Henry of Malone, New York, Beverly Procopio and her husband Anthony of Seekonk, MA, two grandchildren, Jared Procopio and his wife Lisa of Uxbridge, MA and Ashley Procopio of Boston, MA, one great grandson, Jackson Procopio of Uxbridge, MA, two brothers, Ronald Hemmings and his partner Alan Berkey of Dunedin, FL and Les Hemmings of RI, sisters-in-law Julia Crowley of Lithia, FL and Charlene Hurley of New Port Richey, FL and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Thomas Hemmings. A committal service will be held on Saturday November 2, 2019 at 10am in the Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, 301 South County Trail, Exeter, RI.
