Virginia M. Foley, of Rehoboth, passed away on Saturday, February 7, 2015 at Miriam Hospital. For 63 years she was the devoted wife of Henry L. Foley, Professor Emeritus, Bryant University. Born in Woonsocket, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Margaret (Dima) Mussi. She was a 1941 graduate of Woonsocket High School where she was her class’ Valedictorian. She also studied at Rhode Island School of Design. Early in her career, Mrs. Foley was a freelance fashion illustrator and an artist. After raising her children, she rejoined the workforce and rose to the position of manager for Puritan Insurance before she retired. For more than a decade, Mrs. Foley was the Chairman of the Zoning Board of Appeals in the Town of Rehoboth. She was a very active member of the Rehoboth League of Women Voters and participated in the national push to pass Title 9, which necessitated funding for girl’s sports teams. Besides her husband she leaves one daughter, Anne V. Holdreith and her husband Mark of Manhasset, N.Y., one son, Henry C. Foley and his wife Karin of Columbia, Mo. She had four grandchildren, Sean Holdreith, Colin Holdreith, Erica Foley, and Laura Foley. She was predeceased by four sisters. Her funeral will be held on Wednesday at 9:30 AM from the PERRY-McSTAY FUNERAL HOME, 2555 Pawtucket Avenue, East Providence with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 984 Taunton Avenue, Seekonk. Burial will be in Swan Point Cemetery.
