Vincent H. Hawkins, 93 formerly of Moorland Avenue, died Saturday, February 8, 2014 at his home. He was the husband of the late Adeline “Babe” (Sousa) Hawkins. Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Albert and Elizabeth (Holden) Hawkins. Mr. Hawkins was a brick layer for the Gilbane Construction Company before he retired. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. He leaves three daughters, Janet Wollish of Rehoboth, Jane Dunn of Cranston and Karen Pelle of Long Island, one son, Thomas Hawkins of Newport News, Virginia and nine grandchildren. He was the father of the late Dennis Hawkins and Patricia Hawkins. He was predeceased by six brothers and two sisters. His funeral will be held on Tuesday at 9:00 AM from the PERRY-McSTAY FUNERAL HOME, 2555 Pawtucket Avenue, East Providence with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in St. Martha’s Church, Pawtucket Avenue. Burial, with Military Honors, will be in St. Francis Cemetery. Calling hours Monday 5-8. In lieu of flowers contributions to Home & Hospice Care of RI would be appreciated.
