Thomas W. Lawson“Sonny” 86, of East Providence died on April 4, 2015. He was the devoted husband of Janice for 64 years. Born in Providence, he was the son of Annie (Ferry) and Thomas Lawson. He served in the US Marine Corps. Tom worked as a tool maker at Rico-Header Tools, Inc. for 32 years, where he was instrumental in creating the first local of the United Steelworkers union at the plant, serving as its first president. He later worked at NEPTCO. Tom was a kind man who will be remembered by his extended family and friends as the life of the party. He was the beloved father of Kathleen McCabe (Donald), Elizabeth Pascucci (Joseph), Steven Lawson, Valarie (Leonard Rounds), Kerry Lawson and Thomas Lawson, Jr. (deceased); and the proud grandfather of Mitchell and Evan Lawson. He was predeceased by his siblings Edward Rose, Dorothy Harris, Gladys Drabec, Ellen Hayes, Muriel Almeida and Lillian Tavares. A funeral for Thomas will be held on Thursday at 9 AM from the PERRY –MCSTAY FUNERAL HOME 2555 Pawtucket Avenue, East Providence with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in Sacred Heart Church Taunton Avenue, East Providence. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Wednesday from 4-8 PM.
