Theodore Mitrelis, 86 of Rumford, passed away on Monday, July 7, 2014 at Rhode Island Hospital. He was the husband of Mary (Tsonos) Mitrelis. Born in Kalentzi, Patras, Greece he was a son of the late John and Sophia (Panagiotakopoulou) Mitrelis. He came to the United States on April 22, 1955. Mr. Mitrelis was the owner of many restaurants in the area, most recently Theo’s Restaurant. While living in Greece he served in the Army from 1948-1952. He was a member of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, Greek Orthodox Church in Pawtucket. Besides his wife he leaves one daughter, Sophia Gonzalez and her husband Dr. Guillermo Gonzalez of New Bedford, one grandson, Nicholas T. Sotis of East Providence, two brothers, Andrew Mitrelis of Cranston and Paul Mitrelis of Greece. He also leaves his longtime friend Norman Golden. He was the brother of the late Athanasia Ragou, George and Solon Mitrelis. His funeral will be held on Friday at 8:30AM from the PERRY-McSTAY FUNERAL HOME, 2555 Pawtucket Avenue, East Providence with a service at 10:00 AM in the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, Greek Orthodox Church, 97 Walcott Street, Pawtucket. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Calling hours Thursday 4-8.
