Silvia Silva, 87 of North Providence, RI and Estero, FL. entered into eternal rest on Wednesday October 10th at Rhode Island Hospital, from complications of dementia. She was surrounded by her family. She was the daughter of the late Henrique and Regina (Pinheiro) Sousa. She was predeceased by her loving husband Jose Silva. They were inseperable and happily married for 53 years before he passed in 2006.
She was born in Brava, Cape Verde, Portugal. She came to the United States in 1947, married in 1953 and settled in Pawtucket, RI for 46 years, before moving to North Providence in 2001.
She cherished her winters in Estero, FL. where she leaves many dear neighbors and friends. She leaves her heart broken children, her sons Manuel Silva and his wife Gail of Seekonk, MA, Henry Silva and his fiancé Michelle Minicucci of Smithfield, RI and her daughter and “son” Lena and Paul Dilorio, with whom she shared her home.
Her grandbabies, Erika Silva and her husband Robert of North Providence, Matthew Silva of North Providence, Megan Silva of Cranston, Benjamin Silva and Jonathan Silva of Walpole, MA. and Smithfield RI, Katharine Bowers of Rumford, RI, her two daughters in law, Robin Silva of Bristol, RI and Kimberly Silva of Walpole, MA. She leaves a sister Euridice Caldas of New Bedford and many nieces and nephews whom she adored.
She was predeceased by her siblings, Maria C. Rodrigues and Manuel Sousa, her beloved Titia and TiMano, Idelmira and Manuel Ferreira, who raised her after her mom passed, leaving her at the age of 6. When she came to the United States in 1947, she was welcomed into the home of Caroline and Amos DePina. She was a seamstress before her marriage. She loved sewing and crocheting. Nothing made her happier than feeding, hugging and kissing her babies all who were so loving to their Nana.
Her funeral will be held on Saturday, October 13, 2018 at 8:15 AM from the PERRY-McSTAY FUNERAL HOME, 2555 Pawtucket Avenue, East Providence with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 AM in St. Anthony Church, 1413 Mineral Spring Avenue, North Providence.
