Samuel J. Mulholland, 87, passed away Sunday October 25, 2015 at the Philip Hulitar Hospice Center. He was the husband of Phyllis (Jameson) Mulholland to whom he was married for 49 years. Raised in South Providence he was a son of the late Samuel P. and Caroline M. (Kinsella) Mulholland. Mr. Mulholland was an Army Veteran who served his country during the Korean War with the 223rd Infantry Regiment, 40th Division as a Corporal. He was awarded the Bronze star for heroic action in March 1953. He was the owner and operator of Mulholland Audio/Video in Seekonk for 60 years. A natural athlete he enjoyed, skiing, working out and golf. He played baseball for Saint Michael’s Church in Providence, in the American International Amateur Baseball League. Besides his wife he leaves one daughter, Kate Mulholland of New Orleans, one son, Samuel Jeffrey Mulholland and his wife Cheryl of Seekonk, five grandchildren, Sophie, Avery and Noah Bower, Samuel J. Mulholland and Molly Mulholland, one sister, Carolyn Bergeron and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Robert, Richard and Joseph Mulholland. His funeral will be held on Wednesday at 9:00 AM from the PERRY-MCSTAY FUNERAL HOME, 2555 Pawtucket Avenue, East Providence, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Taunton Avenue, Seekonk. Burial will be in the Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, at a time to be announced. Calling hours Tuesday 4-8.
