Ronald Gomes, 79, passed away on Thursday, September 3, 2015 at Miriam Hospital. He was the husband of Rosemary A. Monteiro-Gomes and the late Anna (Guillmette) Gomes. Born in East Providence, he was a son of the late John O. and Julia (Candos) Gomes. Ron worked for the McLaughlin & Moran Company and also in the shipping & receiving department at Home Goods before he retired. He was a past President of the Cape Verdean Progressive Center and also served as a bartender and a Steward. He enjoyed duckpin bowling at the Bowling Academy in East Providence and was an avid Red Sox, New England Patriots and New York Giants fan. Besides his wife he leaves one daughter, Desiree Gomes, two sons, Ronald Gomes, Jr. and Wayne Gomes, three stepsons, Kevin Jennings, Brian Jennings and Gary Jennings, one brother, John O. Gomes, Jr., eight grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Barbara Gomes, Vivian Perry, Gwendolyn Cardoza and Mamie Silva. His funeral will be held on Tuesday at 8:45 AM from the PERRY-McSTAY Funeral Home, 2555 Pawtucket Avenue, East Providence with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in Holy Name Church, Camp Street, Providence. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Calling hours Monday 4-8.
