Robert E. Harrison, 98, of East Providence, passed away peacefully on January 3, 2014 at Evergreen House Health Center. He was the husband of the late Lillian (Smithers) Harrison. Born in Fall River, MA, a son of the late Herbert and Lillian (Shelmardine) Harrison, he lived in East Providence for over 76 years.Bob served on the USS Alaska during World War II. He was the proprietor of A. S. Bunn and Company on Thayer Street, Providence for over fifty years.He is survived by two daughters, Joan E. Kent of East Providence and Judith A. Vollaro of Barrington and a son, Robert E. Harrison of Exeter; a sister, Ruth White of Riverside, CA, 10 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandson. He was the brother of the late James Harrison. His funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 10:00 AM in St. John’s Episcopal Church, 191 County Road, Barrington. Burial, with Military Honors, will be in Swan Point Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Monday from 4-6 in the PERRY-McSTAY FUNERAL HOME, 2555 Pawtucket Avenue, East Providence.
