Robert A. “Butch/Bob” Capello

Robert A. “Butch/Bob” Capello, 69, of Rumford, passed away suddenly on Sunday May 29, 2016. He left this world with an abundance of love and peace. He was the loving husband of Louise M. (Amaral) Capello.   Born in Providence he was a son of the late Manuel “Cap” and Mary (Lorenzo) Capello. Butch was a Veteran of the United States Air Force. Following his service, he was an Account Executive for AT&T for twenty-seven years before he retired. Butch had no greater joy in his life than his family. He was the love of Louise’s life, her rock and best friend. His unconditional love for his children and grandchildren was infinite. He was a man of unparalleled integrity, generosity, loyalty and patriotism. His interminable spirit and limitless joy filled every room in which he entered. He was a communicant of St. Margaret’s Church where he loved being a part of the choir. He was a true EP Townie; an All-State East Providence High School football player that scored the winning touchdown on Thanksgiving Day in the last game of his High School career. He attended Peru Sate College in Nebraska. A huge Patriots and Red Sox fan, he always loved golfing and belonged to many civic organizations. Besides his wife, he leaves one daughter, Tricia L. Gahagan and her husband Ben of Newbury, MA, one son, Gregory A. Capello and his wife Kate of Seekonk, two grandchildren, Megan Capello and Roland Gahagan, three sisters, Brenda Crandall of Rehoboth, Deborah Westcoat and Mary Westcoat both of Taunton, and four brothers, Raymond Capello of PA, Manuel Capello of Iowa, Peter Capello of East Providence and Arthur Capello of NH. His funeral will be held on Saturday at 9:00 AM from the PERRY-MCSTAY FUNERAL HOME, 2555 Pawtucket Avenue. East Providence with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in Saint Margaret’s Church, Pawtucket Avenue, Rumford. Burial with Military Honors will be in Mt. St. Mary’s Cemetery. Calling hours Friday 4-8. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Fisher House Foundation or Shriners Hospitals for Children.
