Oswald D. Cinquegrana, M.D., 97, of East Providence passed away on Tuesday, August 7, 2018 at his home. He was the husband of the late Margaret M. (Laferriere) Cinquegrana. Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Vincent and Margaret (Tasca) Cinquegrana. Dr. Cinquegrana was a 1943 graduate of Providence College. He was awarded his medical degree from Tufts University School of Medicine in 1947. Following an internship at Charles V. Chapin Hospital in Providence and a year of private practice, Dr. Cinquegrana trained in physical medicine while with the U.S. Army at the Mayo Clinic and the Valley Forge (PA) Army Hospital. In 1955, he began a two year fellowship in physical medicine and rehabilitation at Massachusetts General Hospital and then resumed private practice, retiring in 1986. Dr. Cinquegrana was formerly chief of his specialty at Roger Williams Hospital, St. Joseph Hospital and the Veterans Administration Hospital. He was a consulting physician at the Zambarano Memorial Hospital, Wallum Lake and the former Chapin Hospital, Woonsocket Hospital and the Rhode Island Medical Center. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War. He leaves six children, Robert Cinquegrana, Gail Hess, Paul Cinquegrana, Mark Cinquegrana, John Cinquegrana and Glenn Cinquegrana, sixteen grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Vincent Cinquegrana, Jr. His funeral services will be private.
