Nancy L. MacDonald

Nancy L. (Johnston) MacDonald, 74, of Maple Avenue, East Providence, went to her eternal resting place on Saturday, April 25, 2020.  Nancy is survived by her loving husband of 49 years, Craig R. MacDonald.

Born in Pawtucket, she was the daughter of the late Leonard and Helen (Brown) Johnston.

Nancy was a 1962 graduate of the East Providence High School and many years later received her Associates degree from Belfort University Online.  She was a special education teacher’s assistant and cheerleading coach for Riverside Middle School. Nancy also worked at South Coast Educational Collaborative of Seekonk, MA before she retired.  She really didn’t enjoy retirement too long.  She worked part-time as a receptionist at Orchard View Manor.  Nancy loved all of the children and the people she has worked with over the years.  “To know Nancy was to love Nancy.”  She had the biggest caring heart and she would do all she could for anyone in need.   She will be truly missed.

Besides her husband she leaves two children, Bethany H. MacDonald and John J. MacDonald both of Riverside.  She was the sister of the late Beverly A. (Johnston) Colvin.

A celebration of Nancy’s Life will be announced at a later date.

I remember the times at Riverside Middle School and she would take the time to talk to me about anything. Nancy truely had a heart of gold. Me and Nancy still had a friendship after middle school and high school. I would see her shopping and we would talk in the market. Mom knew Nancy since she was a child growing up on Maple Ave, and my Nana. She was a very kind person. I felt close to her and loved how we talked and the ways she had helped me through the years I was in Riverside Middle School. Sorry for the loss. Everyone is in my prayers. RIP

Craig, Bethany & John, There are no words. To say sorry doesn't seem enough. We were neighbors for 20 years. So many nights Nancy would stop by after dinner. Sometimes just to chat... sometimes bringing Avon... sometimes to see Sabbath.... That dog LOVED her... What's not to love. She will be as missed by me as Steve was missed by her (and all of you). Ypu are all in my thoughts & prayers... Love, Chris
