Maria Estrela (Quintanilha) Brum
Maria Estrela (Quintanilha) Brum, 88, of East Providence, passed away peacefully at her daughters home in Swansea on Tuesday, March 23, 2021.
She was the wife of the late Manuel Matias Brum.
Born in Vila Franca do Campo, Sao Miguel, Azores, she was a daughter of the late Francisco da Mota Quintanilha and Maria da Conceicao (Ribeiro) Quintanilha.
Mrs. Brum immigrated to this country and settled in East Providence in 1972. She was an accomplished seamstress for many years and later worked as an assembler for Universal Optical before retiring. She was a faithful communicant of St. Francis Xavier Church.
She leaves three daughters, Maria Fatima Santos and her husband Joao of Seekonk, Maria Estrela Branco and her husband Antonio of Swansea and Regina Figueiredo and her husband Luis of East Providence, one son, Emanuel Brum of Colorado, two sisters, Maria Santo Cristo Medeiros of East Providence and Maria dos Anjos Ribeiro of Sao Miguel, Azores, nine grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Maria Conceicao Valente, Amelia Pimentel, Teresa Sardinha, Artur, Mariano, Abel and Manuel Quintanilha.
Her funeral and visitation will be held on Monday, March 29, 2021 from 9:00- 10:00 AM in Saint Francis Xavier Church, 81 North Carpenter Street, East Providence, with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 10:00 AM. Burial will beย in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial Masses and donations are greatly appreciated to St. Francis Xavier Church.
