Maria Eduarda DaCosta,73, of Fairbanks Avenue passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Thursday September 27, 2018 after a 17 month battle with cancer. She was the beloved wife of Jose DaCosta to whom she was married 52 years.
Born in Agua d’Alto, Sao Miguel, Azores she was a daughter of the late Manuel F. and Hortencia (Correia) Lima. Mrs. DaCosta worked for the Trifari Jewelry Company before she retired. She also worked as a seamstress at the Calaypso Department Store in Bermuda before she came to this country. She was a faithful communicant of St. Francis Xavier Church and was also a member of the Choir and the Charismatic Prayer Group. Above everything else she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She will be deeply missed.
Besides her husband she leaves four children, Suzanne Silva and her husband Manny of Cranston, Nelson DaCosta and his wife Jen of Cranston, Diane Leal and her husband Paulo of Somerset and Melissa Cabral and her husband Christopher of East Providence, three grandchildren, Rebecca Silva, Nathan Silva and Olivia DaCosta, one brother, Manuel F.F. Lima of Seekonk, one sister, Theresa Brum of East Providence and many nieces and nephews.
Her funeral will be held on Tuesday October 2, 2018 at 8:00 AM from the PERRY-McSTAY FUNERAL HOME, 2555 Pawtucket Avenue, East Providence with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00 AM in St. Francis Xavier Church, North Carpenter Street, East Providence.
