Maria E. Oliveira, 74, of West Warwick and formerly of East Providence, passed away on Saturday, November 2, 2019 at Hope Hospice & Palliative Care, Providence. She was the wife of the late José I. Oliveira and the companion of Manuel Dias.
Born in Pedro Miguel, Faial, Azores, she was a daughter of the late Lorindo DeMelo and Sinhorina DaGloria. Mrs. Oliveira worked for Davol Inc. of Providence, and later worked as a CNA in various nursing homes throughout Rhode Island.
Maria was was active in her parish and community of St. Francis Xavier Church. She was a religious educator and sang in the church choir. She was a member of the “Despensa Amigos do Rabo de Peixe, USA.” She enjoyed dancing and spending time with friends and family.
Besides her companion Manuel Dias, she leaves three daughters, Maria Bejma and her husband Paul of Pawtucket, Maria Tavares and her husband James of East Providence, Theresa Oliveira and her Fiancée, David Butler of Riverside, two sons, Tony Oliveira of West Warwick and Michael Oliveira and his Fiancé, Angelica Steward of West Warwick, 12 grandchildren, Jessica Tavares, Gabriella Foster, Isabell Butler, Alexis Strohl, D.J. Oliveira, Joseph Oliveira, Emma Decell, Mercedes Oliveira, Jasmine Oliveira, Helena Oliveira, Brayden Butler and Tony Oliveira, Jr.. She was the sister of Maria Hamm of British Columbia, Maria Costos, Laurindo Melo, Eduardo Melo all of Toronto, John Melo of Pico, Azores, José Garcia, Fatima Ferreira and Ana Maria Ferreira all of Faial, Azores. She was the sister of the late João Ferreira.
Her funeral will be held on Wednesday, November 6, 2019 at 9:00 AM from the PERRY-McSTAY FUNERAL HOME, 2555 Pawtucket Avenue, East Providence with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in St. Francis Xavier Church, North Carpenter Street. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Providence. Calling hours Tuesday 6-8.
