Manuel P. da Silva “Tiriri”, 91, of Pawtucket, passed away at home on Wednesday, December 11, 2019. He was the husband of the late Maria M. (Vasques) daSilva.
He was born in Praia do Almoxarife Faial, Azores and was a son of the late Manuel P. daSilva and Maria C. (Pereira) da Silva. Manuel was a firefighter for the “Bombeiros Voluntarios da Horta before immigrating to the United States in 1970. He worked for American Insulated Wire before he retired. He was a communicant of St. Anthony’s Church. Manuel was a member of Portuguese Social Club Pawtucket, Clube Juventude Lusitana, Cumberland, União Portuguesa Beneficente Inc., Pawtucket and Amigos da Terceira, Pawtucket. Manuel enjoyed fishing and working on his garden and playing cards with his friends at the Portuguese clubs. Most of all he loved spending time with his family.
He leaves three children, David da Silva and his wife Maria of New Bedford, MSgt. Paulo J V Da Silva, USAF, (Ret) of Pawtucket, and Ana Paula da Silva and her husband Paulo of Pawtucket, six grandchildren, Carla Delpizzo, Michelle da Silva, Nicole da Silva, Tiffany da Silva, David da Silva, Monique da Silva and 12 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Berta da Conceicão da Silva, Maria Noemia Garcia and José Pereira da Silva.
His funeral will be held on Monday, December 16, 2019 at 8:45 AM from the PERRY-McSTAY FUNERAL HOME, 2555 Pawtucket Avenue, East Providence with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in St. Anthony Church, 32 Lawn Ave, Pawtucket. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Calling hours will be, Sunday from 3-7PM.
