Manuel Moniz 98 of Rumford passed away Tuesday February 21, 2017 at the Philip Hulitar Inpatient Center. He was the husband of the late Virginia J. (Souza) Moniz, to whom he was married 72 years. Born in East Providence he was a son of the late Antonio and Gloria (Andrade) Moniz. Manuel worked for Washburn Wire before retiring. He was a life member of the VFW Primmer-Cordeiro Post, a World War II Army Combat Veteran, a member of the Holy Ghost Society at St. Francis Xavier, an avid golfer and a member of Sun Valley Golf Club. He is survived by two daughters Delores Archambault and her husband Jospeh of Rumford, Eleanor Hallenbeck of Maine, two sons James Moniz of East Greenwich, Daniel Moniz of SC, one brother John Moniz, one sister M. Gloria Medeiros, eleven grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, and nine great-great- grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Alfred, Bill, Joseph, Antonio and James Moniz. His funeral will be held on Saturday at 9 AM from the PERRY-McSTAY FUNEARL HOME 2555 Pawtucket Avenue, East Providence with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in St. Francis Xavier Church, North Carpenter Street, East Providence. Burial with Military Honors will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Friday from 4-7 PM.
