LeRoy B. Simmons (Bud), 91, of Seekonk, passed away July 18, 2015 at Philip Hulitar Inpatient Center. He is survived by his wife Helen (Hanley) Simmons of 67 years.
Born in East Providence he was the son of the late Anthony and Eleanore (Brown) Simmons. Bud was a sales representative for several textile companies before retiring. He was a WWII Veteran and participated in the Honor Flight New England in Washington. Bud graduated from Bryant College in 1952. He was a member of the E.P. Elks Club, a former member of the Seekonk Lions Club and the Seekonk Zoning Board. He enjoyed driving the tractor trailer to the strawberry fields at Four Town Farm for several years and was affectionately called “Farmer Bud.” He and his wife enjoyed playing golf for many years at Pine Valley Country Club. His biggest pleasure of all was spending time with his family.
In addition to his wife his family included five children, Lynne Clegg (Steve) of Seekonk, Colleen Colabella (Bovio) of CT, Brad Simmons (Dianne) of Harrisville, Marian Bliss (Jim) of CT, Cindy Cotter (Norman) of Rehoboth, thirteen grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Bud will be held on Thursday July 23rd at 10 AM at St. Martha’s Church Pawtucket Avenue, East Providence. Burial with Military Honors will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Calling hours will be on Wednesday, July 22nd from 4 to 7 PM at PERRY-MCSTAY FUNERAL HOME 2555 Pawtucket Avenue, East Providence.
