Laura (Amaral) Goudreau, 66, of Smithfield, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 3, 2015 at Cherry Hill Manor surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of William J. Goudreau. Born in Providence, she was the daughter of Laura (Ferris) Amaral and the late Inocencio Amaral. She taught first grade at William Winsor Elementary School in Greenville for ten years. She loved animals, was an avid reader and enjoyed volunteering at Smithfield Public schools. She enjoyed being a den mother to her son’s Boy Scout troop when he was in elementary school. She was a member of St. Martha’s Church in East Providence. Laura was an inspiration to all who knew her. She always had a smile on her face, she loved spending time with family and friends and was always there to brighten the lives of others. She was an extraordinary woman who will be greatly missed by all that had the opportunity to know and love her. Besides her husband, she is survived by her greatest blessing, her loving and devoted son, Matthew L. Goudreau and his wife Melissa, whom she loved dearly. She also leaves behind the amazing staff at Cherry Hill Manor who loved and took care of her for many years. Her funeral and visitation will be held on Monday at 8:00 am in the PERRY-McSTAY FUNERAL HOME, 2555 Pawtucket Avenue, East Providence with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at St. Martha’s Church, 2595 Pawtucket Avenue, East Providence.
