L. Diana McLean (Daubney) 86, of Riverside, passed away on Friday January 15, 2016. She was predeceased by her loving husband Donald B. McLean and daughter of the late Leslie and Bertina Daubney. She will be deeply missed by her sons Bruce McLean, Gregory McLean and his wife Monica, her five grandchildren James, Scott, Meghan, Kaitlyn, and Lauren, her two great-grandchildren Lyla and Matthew, her brother Dieudonne Daubney, and sisters Belva Wilton and Marilyn Ricci.
Diana was a graduate of East Providence High School, class of 1946, and Boston University in 1948. She spent many years as the Director of Personnel at Emma Pendleton Bradley Hospital.
As well as being a devoted mother and grandmother, she had a passion for helping others. She donated her time as president of each of the Riverside Junior Women’s Club, the East Bay Women’s Clubs, the Rhode Island State Federation of Women’s Clubs, and the General Federation of Women’s Clubs New England Region. She also served as the president of the East Providence Historical Society, the East Providence Chamber of Commerce, and the East Bay Mental Health Center Board of Directors. Additionally, she contributed her time to be on the Board of Trustees of the East Providence Public Library.
In 1984, Diana was recognized as the East Providence Business and Professional Women’s Club “Woman of the Year”. She received the “GFWC President’s Award of Merit” in recognition of her exceptional contributions as state president in 1986. Later, she was awarded the “A. Eric Palazzo Community Service Award” in acknowledgement of her commitment to mental health by the RI Council of Community Mental Health Centers.
Visitation will be held at the Perry-McStay Funeral Home in East Providence, Thursday 5-8PM. Funeral services will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts to the American Cancer Society would be appreciated.
