Joseph Silva, 62 of North Brow Street died Monday, February 25, 2013 at the Philip Hulitar Hospice Center. He was the husband of Judith A. (Rourke) Silva. He was born in Providence, a son of the late Joseph C. and Ida (Castrignano) Silva. Mr. Silva was a truck driver for Sodexo School Lunch Program before retiring. He was the Warden for the East Providence Knights of Columbus, Council 1528 and was a Faithful Navigator for St. Pius X Assembly, 1060. Joe ran the Children’s Toy Drive Dinner through the Knights of Columbus to benefit Children’s Friend for over twenty years. He was a board member of the Holiday Toy Drive for Children’s Friend and a board member of the Red Bridge Neighborhood Association. He was a committee member of the East Providence Winter Fest. Besides his wife he leaves one daughter, Julie A. Silva of East Providence, four sisters, Angela Carbone of North Providence, Linda Simmons of Bristol, Donna Silva of Providence and Emma Silva of Providence, two brothers, Frank Silva of Providence and John Silva of North Providence. He also leaves nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and family members. He was the brother of the late Maryann Ferrante and Ralph Silva. His funeral will be held on Saturday at 9:00 AM from the PERRY-McSTAY FUNERAL HOME, 2555 Pawtucket Avenue, East Providence with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in St. Brendan’s Church, Turner Avenue, Riverside. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Calling hours Friday 4-8.
