Jesus B. Valdepeñas, M.D.

Jesus B. Valdepeñas, M.D., 82, passed away peacefully at his home in Seekonk, MA on Tuesday, November 20, 2018 surrounded by his loving family.

Dr. Valdepeñas, “Dr. Val”, was a respected physician in the Rhode Island and Massachusetts medical communities for more than forty years. He was born in Quezon City, Philippines, to Numeriano and Ines (Bernal) Valdepeñas and was the eldest of 6 children. After graduating from the University of Santo Tomás (Manila, Philippines), he moved to the Boston area where he completed his residency. He served as House Physician at Soldiers’ Home in Holyoke, MA and then Our Lady of Fatima Hospital in North Providence before establishing a private practice in East Providence, RI. Dr. Val was known to his colleagues, residents, nurses, and patients as a compassionate physician for the people. He knew his patients and they knew him, many becoming friends. He retired from private practice in 2007.

A devoted family man, Jesus is survived by his wife, Anne-Marie; daughters, Dr. Edna-Anne Valdepeñas, of Newtown, PA, Marie-Ines Valdepeñas of Woonsocket, RI, Nora-Jean Lough of Warwick, RI, Karen Ing of Lynnfield, MA, Teresa Jane Sheehan of Seekonk, MA; sons Dr. Sean Valdepeñas, of Chapin, SC and Neil Valdepeñas of Phoenix, AZ; 17 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter; sisters, Gloria Lintao, Jane San José, and Milagros Ramos; brothers, Romeo and Manuel; and numerous extended family members. Jesus was preceded in death by his parents and his youngest son, LCpl Eric P. Valdepeñas.

His funeral will be held on Wednesday, November 28, 2018 at 9:00 AM from the PERRY-McSTAY FUNERAL HOME, 2555 Pawtucket Avenue, East Providence with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Taunton Avenue, Seekonk. Burial will be private. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 5-8 PM.
