Jesse M. DeMello, 98 of Edgewater, Florida and formerly of Rehoboth died Thursday, February 21, 2013 at his home. He was the husband of the late Marion A. (Mellen) DeMello.
He was born in Providence, a son of the late Nestor and Catherine (Vermette) DeMello. Mr. DeMello was a brakeman for the New York, New Haven & Hartford Railroad for 38 years before retiring. He was a member of the East Providence Lodge of Elks.
He leaves three daughters, Janice D. Rego , Judith M. Ferreira, and Karen L DeMello with whom he made his home, six sons, Jesse DeMello, Jr., Donald R. DeMello, Jerald E. DeMello, Joseph A. DeMello, Robert K. DeMello and Paul S. DeMello, twenty four grandchildren, twenty four great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Evelyn Thatcher, Alberta Cooper, Doris Klang, Joseph, Howard, Ernest, Russell and Merrill DeMello.
His funeral will be held on Thursday at 9:00 AM from the PERRY-McSTAY FUNERAL HOME, 2555 Pawtucket Avenue, East Providence with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Taunton Avenue, Seekonk. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Calling hours Wednesday 2-4 and 7-9.
