James S. “Jim” Whitaker

James S. “Jim” Whitaker, 83 of Lincoln Street died Monday August 20, 2012 at the Orchard View Manor. He was the husband of Katherine “Anita” (Andrews) Whitaker.

  Born in Seekonk, he was a son of the late William J. and Mabel (Dyson) Whitaker.  He was a lifelong Seekonk resident.
   Jim was a teacher at the former East Providence Central Junior High and at the E.R. Martin Middle School for a total of thirty four years.  He was also a Baseball, Football and Wrestling coach.
  Besides his wife he leaves four daughters, Mary Kay Souza of Plainville, Ma., Lianne Maymon of Seekonk, Susan Clark of Hampstead, N.H. and Nancy Whitaker of Rehoboth, one son, Peter Whitaker of Warwick, his seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren whom he was lovingly refered to as Boppa. He also leaves one sister, Dorothy Hermanson and one brother, William Whitaker. He was the brother of the late Robert Whitaker.
 His funeral service will be held on Saturday at 11:00 AM in the PERRY-McSTAY FUNERAL HOME, 2555 Pawtucket Avenue, East Providence. Burial will be in Rehoboth Village Cemetery. Calling hours Friday 5-8. In lieu of flowers contributions to the Alzheimers Association would be appreciated.
