Herminio V. Correia, 81, of Lyon Avenue passed away on Friday, February 3, 2017 at Rhode Island Hospital. He was the husband of Leonilda F. (DaSilva) Correia. Born in Flamengos, Faial, Azores he was a son of the late Manuel V. and Natalia C. (Melo) Correia. Mr. Correia was an auto mechanic at the former Heritage Buick in East Providence. He was a communicant of St. Francis Xavier Church, a member of the Holy Ghost Brotherhood of Charity and was an avid soccer fan. Mr. Correia never lost his deep passion for his beloved Faial. Besides his wife he leaves one son, Paul J. Correia and his partner Paul J. Castro of North Dighton, two brothers, Manuel deVargas and Leonildo Correia both of Ontario, Canada and his beloved friend and pet dog Kobi. He was the brother of the late Odilio deVargas and Jose Victor Correia. His funeral will be held on Wednesday, February 8, 2017 at 9:00 AM from the PERRY-McSTAY FUNERAL HOME, 2555 Pawtucket Avenue, East Providence with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in St. Francis Xavier Church, North Carpenter Street, East Providence. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Calling hours Tuesday 4-8.
