Helena S. Escobar 96, of Grassmere Avenue passed away Monday May 30, 2016 at Miriam Hospital. She was the wife of the late Antonio F. Escobar. Born in Middletown she was a daughter of the late Manuel and Filomena (DaGloria) Escobar. Helena worked as a factory worker in the computer industry for many years. She was a communicant of St. Martha’s Church and was a member of the Rosary & Altar Society at the church. She is survived by her eight children M. Fernanda Goulart of FL, Manuel Escobar of East Providence, M. Gabriela Martins of Chepatchet, M. Helen Gouveia of Florida, Joseph Escobar of CA, Margaret Curvelo of East Providence, Antonio Escobar of Tiverton, Albert Escobar of East Providence, one brother Gabriel Escobar, twenty – four grandchildren, and twenty- five great-grandchildren. She was the mother of the late Maria E. Pinheiro, and sister of the late Maria Escobar, Rosa DaRosa, Manuel Escobar, Filomena Lacerda, Jose Escobar, Liduina Escobar. Her funeral will be held on Monday at 9 AM from the PERRY–McSTAY FUNERAL HOME 2555 Pawtucket Avenue with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in St. Martha’s Church, Pawtucket Avenue, East Providence. Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Calling hours will be Sunday from 4-8 PM. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in her memory to the charity of your choice.
