Hazel W. Bradley, 104, of Stenton Avenue passed away on Friday, December 22, 2017 at her home. She was the wife of the late Jesse R. Bradley, Jr. Born in Warwick, she was a daughter of the late Andrew and Flora (Brown) Williams. Mrs. Bradley attended Lockwood High School in Warwick and played the violin in the orchestra. She grew up in Central Baptist Church in Warwick were she was baptized and attended BYPU and also taught Sunday school. When she married Jesse Bradley, that brought her to the Olney Street Baptist Church where she has been a member for the past 80 years. She has served cheerfully in the Big Sisters, Senior Choir, Carrie Mabray Circle, Deaconess, Usher, Sunday School Teacher and a host of other services. She volunteered with the Providence School Department were she worked closely with Superintendent Dr. Oliver in the Doyle Avenue School Teacher’s Aide Program. She also tutored English at the Mary Fogarty Elementary School in the late 1980’s. Hazel was a Committee Women for Ward 3 (1976) and served on the East Side Neighborhood Council and on the Board Committee of Urban Development for the East Side. She leaves two daughters, Marie E. Bradley with whom she made her home and Cheryl L. Bradley of Elkridge, Maryland, one son, Jesse R. Bradley, III of Johnston, seven grandchildren, several great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Alice Brown and Bertram Brown. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, December 27, 2017 from 10:00 to 11:00 AM in the Olney Street Baptist Church, 100 Olney Street, Providence with a service to follow at 11:00 AM. Burial will be in North Burial Ground, Providence.
