Glovener Blade, 91, of 1275 South Broadway, East Providence, departed this life on August 10, 2018. Glovener, affectionately known as “Jackie” to many, was born on December 4, 1926 in Providence, RI to Colsie Jackson and Lucille (Gilliam) Jackson. She was fortunate to have her stepmother, Blanche E. Johnston, to raise her and teach her about God. Jackie was the wife of the late Arthur Blade and sister of the late Margaret, Clarence and Frederick Ruffin. Jackie received her primary education in the Providence Public School System graduating from Hope High School; she went on to complete a business degree while living in Philadelphia, PA. Jackie returned to Providence and was employed by ADP for over 40 years. Jackie and Arthur were married at Allen A.M.E. Church, Providence, in 1950 and became a life-long member; her devotion to God was expressed through her service in several ministries of the church. She also loved to go shopping with her good friend Helen. Jackie is survived by her beloved son Richard Blade, and grandson Richard Lopes. She also leaves to cherish her memory one niece, four nephews, as well as great-nieces and nephews, along with extended family and friends who will miss her dearly. Her funeral and visitation will be held on Saturday August 18, 2018 at 11:00 AM in the PERRY-MCSTAY FUNERAL HOME, 2555 Pawtucket Avenue, East Providence with a service to follow at 12:00 noon. Burial will be in Swan Point Cemetery.
