Eulalia V. Viana, 66, passed away Wednesday, December 9, 2015. Her will to live and the love and prayers of family and friends gave her strength to fight Parkinson’s Disease valiantly.
Eulalia was born in Portugal on November 5, 1949, the daughter of the late Jose Maria dos Prazeres and Adrizia Varzeo Barreiro. She immigrated to the United States after her marriage to Joaquim G. Viana, with whom she shared 44 years of marriage. Eulalia and Joaquim made their home in Rumford, Rhode Island for thirty years, where they raised two children, Mark and Kelly. Eulalia moved to Maryland in 2013 to be close to her first granddaughter, Rosa Eulalia Soares. Eulalia was joyfully anticipating the birth of her son’s daughter when Eulalia passed.
Eulalia had a strong work ethic and ran her own business before retiring. She loved to cook, garden and collect antiques. Eulalia will be remembered as first and foremost a selfless and devoted mother and wife. Her love and friendship were gifts to everyone she knew. She will be dearly missed.
Her funeral will be held on Saturday at 9:00 AM at the Perry-McStay Funeral Home on 2555 Pawtucket Avenue, East Providence with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in Saint Francis Xavier Church, 81 North Carpenter Street, East Providence. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Calling hours today, Friday 5-8 PM.
