Erik Daniel Pitassi

Erik Daniel Pitassi, 54, of Whippany, NJ, passed away on Wednesday, December 25, 2019 at University Hospital in Newark, New Jersey. He was the husband of Karen (Perlman) Pitassi.

Erik was the son of David and Sandra (Ribeiro) Pitassi born in Providence, Rhode Island.  Erik spent his childhood in Seekonk, MA with summers in Newport, Rhode Island. He moved to New Jersey for graduate school where he met the love of his life, Karen. Although Erik loved New England, he spent the rest of his life living in New Jersey, traveling back to New England each summer to share his love of the crisp, New England summer with his family.  Erik loved his family and home.  He enjoyed spending his free time gardening, cooking with seasonal ingredients, and picking flowers from his garden for his wife.  He loved working with his hands, especially woodwork, and always had a new project on his mind whether it was building a shed to house his tools for later projects, or a basketball hoop, for him and his son, Zachary, to play with.  Erik also loved his collections, which included baseball cards, coins, and stamps.  Like his father and brother Mark, Erik enjoyed playing the guitar and would entertain himself strumming tunes from the ’60s through the ’70s.

Besides his wife, Karen, he leaves a son, Zachary of Whippany, NJ, His parents, David and Sandra Pitassi of Seekonk, MA, a brother, Mark Pitassi and his wife, Jennifer of Mount Pleasant, SC, his mother-in-law, Sandy Perlman of Elkins Park, PA, his uncle Antone Ribeiro of Rehoboth, MA, 2 brothers-in-law, 2 sisters-in-law, 5 nephews, and 1 niece.

Erik hoped one day there would be no more cancer especially childhood cancer. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Erik’s favorite charity, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital P.O. Box, 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38148-0142.
