Emma N. Hazel 90, of Mount Hope Avenue, Providence died Friday August 23, 2013 at the Philip Hulitar Hospice Center surrounded by her son and daughter. She was the wife of the late Omar C. Hazel Sr to whom she was married for 60 years. Born in Fall River Massachusetts she was a daughter of the late Rev. Levi Nichols and Evelyn (Green) Nichols. Mrs Hazel was raised in Edenton, North Carolina where her father was the pastor of the Providence Baptist Church before moving to Rhode Island. She leaves one daughter, Paula Coachman and her husband Warren of East Providence, one son, Omar C. Hazel Jr., of Pasadena, California, five grandchildren, Prescott, Ronald, Amanda, Thomas and Lauren Hazel, three great grandchildren, Ronald Hazel Jr., Alexander and Everett Hazel. She was the mother of the late Linda H. Hazel and sister of the late Arlene Dunlap and Earl Nichols. Her funeral will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 AM in the PERRY-MCSTAY FUNERAL HOME, 2555 Pawtucket Avenue, East Providence. Burial will be in Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, 301 South County Trail, Exeter. Calling hours Tuesday 5-8.
