Elizabeth A. Smith, 92, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 21, 2016 at the Philip Hulitar Hospice Center. She was the wife of the late Frank D. Smith. Born in New Bedford, MA, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Mary F. (Cardoza) Flippens. Elizabeth was a member of the St. Martin de Porres Center and was a former member of the Church of God and Saints of Christ. She was also a former member of the Cathedral of Saints Peter & Paul. She is survived by her seven loving children, Wayne F. Smith and his wife Debra, Maurice D. Smith and his wife Wanda, Sidney L. Smith, Charles A. Smith and his wife Louisa, Timothy J. Smith, Mary F. Gripper, and Richard A. Smith; the mother of the late Alethea Wells, Elizabeth A. Smith, Pamela R. Smith, and Debra A. Smith her twenty grandchildren, Kimberly, Sean, Surrel, Joshua, Timothy, Jr., Qiana, James, Aretha, Roberta, Nicole, Natasha, Derrick, Andrew, Brandi, Marah, Monique, Tyana, Taina, Electra, and Nikolas and her eighteen great grandchildren. She also leaves two nieces, Robin Parker and Joy Mainor, one nephew, James Flippens, two cousins, Barbara Cardoza and Elaine Cardoza, one sister-in-law, Lucille Flippens and her very dear friends, Florence Mitchell and Rhoda Jackson. She was the sister of the late Charles, James, Simon, and Andrew Flippens and sister-in-law of the late Jackie Flippens. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, August 25, 2016 from 5-7 PM with a Home Going Service from 7-9 PM in Church of God and Saints of Christ, 105 Dodge Street, Providence. Burial will take place on Friday, August 26, 2016 at 10:30 AM in Grace Church Cemetery, Providence.
